{Personal post} – Spring Break Road Trip, from Seattle – Vegas

photocrati gallerySo, Nappy and I for the first time in our existence as parents have figured out how to take our work vacation weeks when the kids are on their school breaks (yay!)

We woke up on the Sunday prior to the week long Spring Break, checked on flights outa Dodge, all were full, so, road trip it was!

I wanted California, naturally, but, Nappy said “No, this time let’s do Vegas, hot weather, pools, lights, water show, rides” — Oh wow! I was instantly terrified with the autism factor at hand. Then I realized, no, Keanu LOVES fast roller coasters, he seems to enjoy fast, noisy, bright places. Ok, off we go!

It takes 18 hours with no stops to drive from Tacoma to Vegas, we had to stop 1x, took us 26 HOURS!! haha!

We saw amazing stuff along the way though – dust storms, mountains, animals, fun!

I highly recommend taking the kids to the MGM Grand, the hotel room was comfy, and tons inside hotel to keep everyone happy, the LAZY RIVER at the pool alone was worth the 26 hour drive! BEST MAN-MADE invention I’d ever seen! You cruise along with good music piping through the patio, the currents carry you so you are floating, your kids can’t drown! BRILLIANT! We spent hours doing this!

We also got to see my sister and her family, including little cousin Zera whom Jasmine had never met before, uncanny how she looks like my sister and I look like Jasmine in the photos of the 2 girls 🙂

The route home was different, we drove to Oregon to see my folks, we passed through many little towns and even the infamous AREA 51, lol!

It was Nappy’s birthday on the last day of our trip, so fun to have a fancy dinner with Mum in Depoe Bay, Oregon, and the sun was shining, just the perfect ending to an amazing trip – we had never actually walked below Mum’s cottage, there’s a stairway that leads you down to tidepools, so excellent, this will be a must-do from now on when we visit.

*I shot these with my old film camera and 3 rolls of film – some of these images are not the best, but, it was fun to have no pressure, just shoot!

  1. I loved these pictures, Dana, AND your commentary. Looks and sounds like you had a great time. Nice to know about the kid-friendliness of the MGM Grand.
